Affiliations

We are a member congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Pacific Southwest Region. Our denomination, formed during the Restoration Movement, is committed to Christian unity and allows for great diversity in belief and practice. We believe our unity as Christians must be grounded in our common understanding of Jesus as Christ, not in uniformity of doctrine or proclamation of creed. As a result, our congregation is made up of people from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds and traditions, some with no previous history in a church or experience in Christian faith.

Dr. Sharon Watkins
The Rev. Dr. Sharon E. Watkins is the seventh general minister and president of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was elected and installed during the July 23-27, 2005, General Assembly in Portland, Ore.

An ordained minister, Watkins most recently served as Senior Minister of Disciples Christian Church in Bartlesville, Okla. She holds a doctor of ministry degree from Phillips Theological Seminary, a Master of divinity from the Yale Divinity School, and a bachelor’s degree in French and economics from Butler University.

She is married to the Rev. Dr. Richard (Rick) H. Lowery, Professor of Old Testament at Phillips Theological Seminary. They have two children, Bethany and Christopher. More...

Church Extension
Since 1883, Church Extension has assisted local Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in planning, financing, and maintaining facilities to be used as places to engage in the ministry of being and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. We continue to live that out in commitments reflected in our new mission statement: "Called by God, Church Extension partners with all Disciples of Christ congregations at pivotal points in their life cycles by offering transformational strategies, investment services and capital funding." The ministry of Church Extension does not operate in a vacuum, however. It takes the cooperation of congregations, individual members, regional and general ministry partners to assist in accomplishing this mission. Our primary sources of funds are from Christian people who faithfully entrust dollars to us for the work of Christ's church. We commit ourselves to a shared life in Christ and to an ecumenical global sharing of resources and prophetic vision of a just and peaceful world order, joining with God’s concern for the poor and oppressed. Pension Fund of the Christian Church
The Pension Fund serves the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) by supporting ministers, missionaries and lay employees of the church and its related organizations.
